Flashing news on the incompetence of Indian law in nabbing criminals has once again been the highlight of many news channels. As each day brings more news on our frail system and top notch corruption, my understanding has led to ponder if the common person is taken for a dummy. Latest eye-catcher was of course the Aarushi case, death of a 14yr teenager in 2008.

What lit this case were a number of accusations by the police, then CBI, to prove the law wasn’t sleeping. The young girl named Aarushi Talwar was alone at home when her dentist parents left for a party. On their return, they did not check on her that night and went off to bed. Next morning of course, was a shocker when they discovered her dead body. The list of accusations started from the house servant of Nepalese origin whose body was found on the terrace, the next day; the parents as they ‘it seems’ had found their daughter and servant in a compromising situation; peers of the servant and so on….. Finally, the CBI spills out its beans – they didn’t have any suspects and no one to accuse. Phew!!!
It is disappointing and fulsome to find you cannot find a culprit even with an enormous change in technology, DNA & fingerprinting methods and many more. While I watch serials like CID, CSI and others where justice always prevails in the end, the reality is quite the contrary. Then again, I remind myself over and over again on the zillions of cases which are pending in court, cases of innocents being thrown behind the bars, cases of criminals walking free after spending few years in prison or granted bail only to find them free forever because “someone” did not collect enough evidence. Towards the rotten end, all I could do was, pen down my thoughts here.

I actually back up varsha,the technology has grown rapidly. CBI could have zeored in the murderer. the way CBI closed the case makes me to think that htere is some fishy matter in. If the CBI's have closed the case without any clues, i think the parents of aarushi should have fought back. i don't think so this is happening right now. I would suggest that we need to teach our kids to be really intutive and cautious especially to a girl child.
ReplyDeleteEvery day in the every corner of the world at least more than 10 injustices and inhuman acts are taking place... thousands of policeman and defensive equipments and technologies can do nothing. There are worse cases than this, not only in India but even in Europe and America.
ReplyDeleteMy point is bit practical: have you heard of boomerang when you do good you will receive good! Yes, criminals are not born but they are made by circumstances. They loose their human quality and become animals as they are treated as animals! The only thing we can do on our part is be good or I would say be a human to each and every fellow human around us. At least the people around you will be automatically be a human to you!
For instance, I would like to share an anecdote to you: a 16yr old boy came to give water bottle to my home who is working in a petty shop in my street. One day I saw him getting ill treated by his owner, that day I happened to interfere with that owner and just eased him from that pressure and the next day he himself talked to me and shared that he got failed in his 10th examination and so he had come here to work for just rs. 2000/mnth under his uncle, also said that his parents are ready to spare money for his education but he regretted for his choice of coming here to work, but I made a strong point that unless he has a degree he cannot have a decent job/salary, also made him feel that failure is not a full stop and still he has an opportunity to change his life itself. You know, the very next week he left to his home town and sent a letter to me that he joined a tutorial. Why I am describing this here is we cannot bring a big change to our laws but we can still bring a change to small things and stop injustice that are happening in front of us!
